ANNOIT MULLE TÄN "You gave me this"

We were helping with a move and the belongings started to form lines to settle down in the house of love. This can be a continuation of the song ”Innut ja linnut” from my first record.

lyrics

ANNOIT MULLE TÄN
(scroll down for translation)

annoit mulle tän armaisen talon
jonka makuuhuoneen
ikkunaa raapii
omenapuu
jossa rastas pesii

mä annoin sulle
betonitornien pihan
pihojen leikit,
leikiten maailmanrauhaa
puolustin

annoit mulle
unien nurmen
jolla hevonen kulkee
sieltä täältä
järjestelmällisesti
ruohon leikkaa

mä annoin sulle
sanattoman yön
jolloin valvotaan
autojen valoja
kun ne pehmeästi katossa
risteilee ja katoaa

annoit mulle
tän talon
huoneen
ja nurmen
ja hevosen
ja omenapuun

ja rastas lauloi
vapauslauluja
all you need is love
it’s all right mama
ja rastas hautoi
vanhoja kattiloita,
aseita ja lautasia
teeastiastoa

sillä kun poikaset lähtee
on kaupunki karu paikka
ei anna mitään evästystä
vain turistikauppoja
muotiliikkeitä
suurlähetystöjä
kallita kahviloita
miten ne selviää?
miten me selvitään?
missä on meidän paikka,
meidän kaupunki?

"You gave me this"

You gave me this dear house
with a sleeping room window scratched
by an apple tree
where a thrush nests

I gave you
the concrete towers’ yard
with its games
I defended
world peace playfully

You gave me
the grass of dreams
where a horse goes
here and there
eating systematically

I gave you
a wordless night
when we stay awake
and watch car lights
smoothly crossing the ceiling
and disappearing

You gave me this house,
the room
the grass
the horse
the apple tree

and the thrush sang
songs of freedom
“all you need is love,
it’s all right, mama”
and the thrush incubated
old casseroles,
forks and plates,
a tea set
cause when the young leave the nest,
the city is an unfriendly place

It doesn’t give any help
only tourist shops,
fashion boutiques,
embassies,
expensive cafes:
how do they survive?
how do we survive?
Where is our place,
our city?
