9. IITU “Iitu”

To the memory of our dog, Iitu. One week after her death an insurance company had a front page ad with a dog. This irritated me. Thus the rhythmical irregularities. By the way, when Iitu drank water, her tongue always worked in 7/8 –time.

Edesmenneen koiramme muistolle. Vakuutusfirman etusivun mainos koirineen ilmestyi härnäävänä aamukahvipöytään viikko kuoleman jälkeen. Tästä tuli tuollaisia rytmihäiriöitä. Kun Iitu joi vettä, lipitys meni aina 7/8 -rytmissä.

Sunnuntai-aamuna kömmit itse autosta
eläinlääkäriin

Kurjet kerääntyivät taivaan sineen
kun kaivoimme kuoppaasi

or really, I just wondered where did you go

and even more I was surprised
as one week after you came back

You had got a new life
on the front page of Helsingin Sanomat(a newspaper)
as a retriever of unnecessary insurance bills
you will still be our safety

but only on the paper
and Helsingin OP( a bank and an insurance company)
is now more doglike than you

But it doesn’t have the same breathing,
nor your hairy ears,
nor does it come sleeping at our feet for the night

So, I hope you will get a better job
than as an insurance bill retriever
Although, with your instinct
you always saw through lies
